A Helping Hand; Going Bananas; Kat Green’s Remarkable Journey
Hello, readers! I’ve been thrilled to be of service to several recently who are looking to reach the next level in their lives. I’ve been on a fruit-filled path for five years and raw for more than four years, learning lots along the way from the best in Natural Hygiene and from amassing 82 transformation stories in Fruit-Powered Magazine.
If you are considering dietary changes or need pointers on your raw food transition, I’m happy to help via my coaching services. I have a range of packages designed to suit many needs and can even build a special plan just for you!
I’m participating in a Buck Books promotion spotlighting vegan authors May 12. Look for one of my books at a special price and also pick up titles from some of my raw fooder friends.
I’ve been continuing with my fitness focus, hitting a recent goal of completing 300 push-ups in a single workout a few weeks ago. I also purchased a portable Trapeze Rigging bar for doing chin-ups and pull-ups and am making these exercises a priority along with push-ups. All this exercise this year—plus being on my feet 30-some hours a week at two raw food cafés—has seen me gain almost 10 pounds in pure muscle. Some days, I’ve eaten almost 5,000 calories!
Eating this many calories makes me a prime candidate to win free 16-ounce banana whips at Arnold’s Way every day for a year at the Lansdale, Pennsylvania, raw food café’s Banana Fest. If you’re in Greater Philadelphia or passing through, join dozens of us in Whites Road Park on Sunday, May 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. BYOB—bring your own bananas! 🙂
I joined another raw food café, Raw Can Roll Café of Wayne, Pennsylvania, recently and have been enjoying my time serving health seekers. I’m also learning how to operate in what must be one of the best-oiled kitchens in the raw food world. Owners Sheryll and Ivan Chavarria have done a first-rate job with this place. I’m even writing staff and patron stories for the café’s newsletter.
Kat Green is one extraordinary young woman. She went vegetarian at just 5 years old and has been raw vegan for six years. She has also traveled the world, launched three books and produced about 100 videos. Kat sent me such incredible interview answers that putting together her profile for this issue was akin to sprucing up a room by hanging an immaculate painting—I had only to get out of the way for the room to look stunning. I know you’ll enjoy her story as well as her recipe for Savoury Wraps. Look for her tips on transitioning to a raw food diet next week.
In his Don Bennett Says … guest spot, Don Bennett focuses on why most of us aren’t living up to our health potential. Always insightful, Don focuses on misinformation and breaks apart percentages and amounts to give readers a clearer sense of what they can do to thrive. “When you are told, in no uncertain terms, that if you eat an all-raw fruit-and-greens diet, and are active enough to warrant eating an appropriate amount of food, that you needn’t be concerned about nutrition, you are being treated to a mouthful of misinformation,” Don writes.
