Spring is here in the Northern Hemisphere, and many fruit bats are thinking about enjoying the fresh fruits and positive vibes at one or more of the fruit festivals happening around the world this year! Below, you’ll find a listing of all the fruit festivals I could find on the Web. If I’ve left out a festival, please let me know, and I’ll update this story.
Fresh Food Festival
The seventh-annual Fresh Food Festival in Denmark celebrates the principles of raw food 80/10/10 style and a healthy way of living. “At the festival, you can enjoy a variety of lectures, sports activities and socializing with other like-minded people as well as enjoying delicious meals of fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables,” organizers say. The event is an international festival in which presentations are delivered in English.
Fruits and Health Festival
The third annual Fruits and Health Festival is the most enlightening, empowering and affordable fruit festival in the world, organizers say. Located in Slovenia, the festival is known for its educational value and family-like atmosphere. “In four days of the festival, you will gain a great amount of valuable information about how to take care of your health and reach your highest levels of energy,” according to lead organizer Teja Fidler Makoter.
The festival presenters are Don Bennett, Dr. Samuel Mielcarski and Ka Sundance, with Megan Elizabeth and Ellen Livingston giving one lecture each via Skype. Raw food chef Alicia Ojeda will prepare meals.
Guests will enjoy an opportunity to meet like-minded people from around the world. In previous years, people from 11 countries joined the gathering, “making this festival what it was meant to be in the first place: a gathering of people with same interests and values,” Teja says.
“Make sure to plan your trip a few days longer then necessary, so you will have an opportunity to travel around Slovenia a bit,” Teja suggests. “It’s not called one of the Europe’s beautiful jewels for nothing, you know.”
Raw Fruit Festival
The fourth-annual Raw Fruit Festival in Spain will be held when fig season is at its peak, when melons are everywhere and when mangos, cherimoyas and guavas are bursting with flavor, organizers say. “As farmers ourselves, we are able to find the best quality fruit and fruits that are picked truly ripe,” according to the festival website.
“So, stop wondering, come enjoy the best tropical fruits from Spain and load up before the winter while meeting new friends!”
Raw Till 4 Thai Festival
“Real food, real people, real fun!” is how organizers bill the second-annual Raw Till 4 Thai Festival. Last year’s festival, held in Thailand, was headed up by Harley Johnstone, also known as “Durianrider.”
“This festival is for those wanting to hang out with like-minded friendly fruit lovers (who are also open to eating a variety of tasty vegan foods),” according to the website, which is also a Facebook group page. “If you have been wanting to master the Raw Till 4 lifestyle, then this is the festival to be at!”
No other information is available on the website.
The Woodstock Fruit Festival
Billed as the “Super Bowl of health, fitness and social events,” the fifth-annual Woodstock Fruit Festival will be held in New York state. More than 600 attendees are expected.
Presenters include Michael Arnstein, Don Bennett, Kristina Bucaram, Megan Elizabeth, Arnold Kauffman, Chris Kendall, John Kohler, Ellen Livingston, Dr. Robert Lockhart, Dan McDonald, Tim Van Orden, Anne Osborne, Karen Ranzi, Dr. Samuel Mielcarski, Mike Vlasaty and Tony Wright.
A separate event, held April 12 to 19, is being held for the first year in Oahu, Hawaii.
