Announcing the Digest‘s New Departments and Changed Publication Schedule Plus Increased Devotion to the Fruit-Powered Life Force Center’s Holistic Health Services
Hello, readers! Welcome to a refreshed Fruit-Powered Digest! This spring 2017 issue launches the first quarterly issue of the Digest, and I hope you are pleased with the 10 wide-ranging stories I put together—with a lot of help from others, of course—for this issue. This issue also marks the launch of some new departments in the Digest.
Why the changes? My journey in this health world has taken me in some exciting new directions the past 16 months. My interests in health are broadening, and you can see this reflected in the content published in this magazine and on my website. I’m devoting lots of my energy to growing my Pain Relief and Postural Alignment Method practice, working with clients in person in Greater Philadelphia and by video chat around the world. I envision myself being internationally known as a leading source for health guidance—in a raw vegan diet, pain relief and peak performance as well as in brain optimization and strain release, the latter of which will come from the forthcoming launch of my craniosacral fascial therapy practice. I may one day also guide others in the Bates Method. I may discover and embrace even more healing modalities that resonate with me!
For me to reach this crystal-clear mountaintop in my dreams and help lift others in their lives, I have to step away from constant magazine deadlines and continue my education while building my Fruit-Powered Life Force Center practice. Since the end of January, however, I’ve ramped up my posting on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest to, at least for now, a daily practice. Come catch the latest news there and stay tuned for some additional occasional e-mails, if you’ve joined my mailing list. I also intend to start producing more episodes of Fruit-Powered Video.
Following my greetings column, which you’re reading, In Season articles—seasonal to Northern Hemisphere readers, representing the overwhelming majority of this magazine’s audience—will lead off each issue. I called on raw food trailblazer Petr Cech to ask if he’d like to share a story on his gardening adventures on his ancestors’ land, and he delivered a wonderful piece, “Life in a Fruit Garden,” with a gallery of colorful photos of mouthwatering fruits!
For about a year, I’ve been seeking to interview Pete Egoscue, founder and creator of the Egoscue Method. I wanted the scoop on how this man formulated the revolutionary stretches and gentle exercises in his Method, which wiped away a decade of chronic pain in my body and instilled in me a passion to practice professionally. John Elder stepped up to the plate in place of Pete and hit it out of the park during a 45-minute telephone interview for another new department, Closeup, comprising in-depth interviews.
Speaking of the Method, life coach Ellen Champion is a client in my Pain Relief and Postural Alignment Method, and we became fast friends over our working together weekly for about three months, which saw this lifelong dancer get back her step and erase chronic pain, thanks to her diligent Method practice. I asked Ellen to pen a Spotlight story on relationships, which, along with business, is an area of focus in her career. She came back with an insightful, can’t-miss story for the third and last new department, Spotlight, made up of features and arts pieces.
Melissa Raimondi has been on my radar for a Transformation story package for some time. The Alberta, Canada, native has cultivated a large and growing audience on YouTube, where she broadcasts recipe and lifestyle videos. I know her fans and raw food lovers on the whole will enjoy her profile story as well as Top Tips and Raw Vegan Chili recipe.
In the Insight from Raw Leaders department, Don Bennett dives into a topic he devotes a good amount of his education efforts to: nutrition. “Getting less than we need on a regular basis will be a recipe for disaster that will give us a very unsettling surprise at some point down the road. So the only logical scenario is getting more than we need,” Don writes in “With Nutrition, Enough Is Not Enough.”
Also in this department, Anne Osborne spells out the benefits to eating high-quality fruits as well as connecting with others and nature. “Networking and connecting with others is very helpful in ensuring you are able to source great-quality and available fruit in your local community. As the roots of a tree grow each year, so our invaluable connections grow and spread out and unite with more and more people,” Anne writes in “Fruitful Networking for Optimal Health.”
Finally, I issue a clarion call in “Take Charge of Your Health” for all of us to not only do right by our bodies but not let ourselves fall victim to making health decisions that can affect us negatively for the rest of our lives. “It is up to all of us to invest in ourselves and not run our bodies into the ground, just for the sake of saving some money. Where do you want to put your wealth? Into a bank account or into your one body, in this lifetime, anyway?”
