Hello from Thailand; Contributions from Karen Ranzi; Vegan Muscle
Hello, readers. I’m writing from Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I’m learning my way around this dynamic city and enjoying sampling fruits new to me at its massive Muang Mai Market. I finally have the time I so long desired to dedicate myself to my chief passion, Fruit-Powered projects, and will have lots to share in the coming weeks and months.
I’m thrilled to announce Karen Ranzi has joined Arnold Kauffman, Dr. David Klein and Matthew David as a regular Fruit-Powered Digest writer. Karen, whose column is titled The Best in Family Health, shared recommendations for a healthy Halloween last month and has much to offer in the way of raising a healthy family. Arnold writes about the latest success story from his 30-Day Raw Challenge in this issue, and Matthew writes about a special opportunity to reconnect with ourselves. I thank all these wonderful folks for their contributions, which bring so much value to this e-magazine!

Mike has enjoyed massive success with powerlifting on a low-fat raw food diet. While on the topic of vegan diets, we just celebrated World Vegan Day on November 1. The vegan population increased in the United States from 1 percent in 2009 to 2.5 percent in 2011, according to a Vegetarian Resource Group study. Celebrities such as former President Bill Clinton and Michelle Pfeiffer are among many praising the benefits of not eating animal products exclusively or almost exclusively. Moreover, Google Trends shows more than twice as many are researching the word “vegan” compared with just a few years ago. The message is getting out there!
Over the summer, I got to spend time with Jenee “Fruity Gypsy” Hallick, who’s an incredibly warm person and has enjoyed many exciting experiences from traveling around the world. Jenee shares her journey to health and happiness—as well as her recipe for Guilt Free Chocolate Mousse—in this issue.
In Chiang Mai, I’ve gotten to hang out with Paul and Yulia Tarbath of RawsomeHealthy.com. These magnificent people showed me some plum spots for buying fruits and vegetables, and I’m happy to share a Fruit-Powered Video interview with them. Check out their transformation profile from Issue 10 of the Digest.
