A 167-page raw food diet transition book released in June 2012, updated in July 2013 and written by Brian Rossiter, Alive! poured out of me during the first half of 2012. I wrote Alive! because, based on my experience, there was a need for a raw food book to explain exactly what to do and how to do it. There was a need for a book to take transitioning raw fooders by the hand and show them the way.

When I embarked on my raw food journey, I was equipped with several books and websites to help guide me and thought I was prepared. Lots of these resources turned out to be less than helpful, though. I was confused about what to eat and when to eat specific kinds of foods—and I made a few mistakes that drastically reduced my energy level and caused me to feel spacey, irritable and depressed.

Only when I learned about the role of fruits and greens as part of Doug Graham‘s 80/10/10 guidelines and importance of staple foods and counting calories did I begin heading in the right direction to raw bliss. Even then, it took me several months longer until I began to thrive. It turns out we need lots of the right kind of guidance, time and patience to get back our instincts and return to our natural diet.

Alive! presents inspiring, intensely personal stories of my journey to well-being. I am upfront about the challenges I faced and how I was able to surmount them, and I think many will relate to these challenges, finding solidarity in and drawing strength from my story. I weave plenty of insight from myself and other raw fooders into the canvas of Alive!

Alive! is mostly a raw food book but also includes a section on fitness, with an emphasis on the Egoscue Method. For a decade, I suffered from chronic back and neck pain and carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes. The Egoscue Method’s targeted stretches and exercises have helped me restore my body’s proper structural alignment. This restoration has enabled me to feel relief from pain and launch an evolving fitness program that includes circuit training, running, rebounding and yoga.

  • I have been looking for a ‘step by step’ program that allows me to enter the Raw Food world and I’ve found it!!! Thank you!!! I will be looking forward to reading my ebook and starting this raw food diet. I have been suffering from Inflammation…which has not allowed me to lose the 25-30 lbs of unwanted and unnecessary weight gain…..and a rare form of psoriasis. I also need to change my gut. I believe that this form of psoriasis comes from a gut issue…..so I will see. But again….thank you for the step by step raw food program!! I will keep you posted and hopefully I will be finally able to post pics soon!!!
